Role

Context
Coastal Jazz, established in 1985, is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the entire spectrum of creative music, from traditional jazz and blues to improvised and boundary-pushing contemporary genres.
The challenge was to modernize its visual identity to reflect this duality: an identity that simultaneously honours the genre's rich traditions while embracing its spirit of continuous evolution and improvisation.
My Role
I led the creative direction, defining a sophisticated visual language centred on abstract typography and iconography. This approach served as a direct metaphor for the music itself to visually represent the improvisational nature of jazz and providing a unique, energetic and recognizable signature.
Design Process
Starting with a flagship poster, I established a cohesive design language that extended seamlessly across different assets such as merchandise, social media posts, and large-scale event banners.
